Jean Esden was born on May 22, 1919 in Fort Wright, WA. She died in Carmel, IN on June 12, 2007. JeanÂ’s father was a soldier in the U.S. Army and she consequently spent her formative years in Washington, Anchorage, Alaska; South Bend, Indiana; Columbus, Georgia; Hawaii, New York City, and Indianapolis. She graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1941. Jean was an active and dedicated member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and remained so throughout her life. She was also a life member of the Indiana University Alumni Association. Jean was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Indianapolis and Thurman United Methodist Church, Thurman, IA. She worked as a legal secretary at the law firm of Baker & Daniels for more than thirty years and was an exemplary employee. Upon retirement she served as a trust officer at Bank One for several years. Jean will be remembered for her talent, her dedication, her sense of humor and her lively interest in her many good friends.Jean is survived by her brother, Robert Esden of Thurman, IA. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22 at Harry Moore Family Mortuary, 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m.

I had met Jean at a couple of Baker & Daniels Christmas parties a few years ago. I didn’t know her well; however, as a long-time employee of Baker & Daniels myself, I wanted to send my condolences to her family.
